If you’ve been thinking about getting Botox for wrinkles or to minimize the presence of fine lines, you’re not alone. At Roberts Dental and Facial Rejuvenation in Tsawwassen, BC, we offer comprehensive cosmetic injectable therapies that can help to enhance the appearance of both your smile and face.
Botox for Wrinkles: The Consultation
The very first step in getting Botox is booking a consultation with Dr. Warren Roberts. At this time, our team will take the Roberts Facial Rejuvenation Photography – a series of 29+ diagnostic photos. You and Dr. Roberts will review your photos together so that he can understand your areas of concerns and your desires. The most commonly treated areas include the glabella lines (in between the brows), crow’s feet, creases in the forehead, wrinkles around the mouth and lips, as well as platysma (neck bands).
Getting Botox for Wrinkles
Before treatment, our Tsawwassen, BC dentist will have several photographs taken of the markings of your exact injection sites. Why? Because 99% of the negative side effects of botulinum toxin treatment is due to where the injection was incorrectly administered. Drs. Roberts have spent the last 10 years teaching physicians, dentists and nurses advanced anatomy courses, specific Botox treatment templates and specific injection techniques which make the patient experience remarkable – and avoid the negative side effects. They regularly teach these patient care practices in monthly hands-on courses with the Pacific Training Institute for Facial Aesthetics.
The Follow Up Visit
You will need to see our South Delta, BC cosmetic dentist two weeks after your first Botox treatment for a follow-up appointment. Our team will take the Roberts Facial Rejuvenation Photography series and allow you to view and compare your before-and-after results. Sometimes, additional treatment may be required at this appointment to achieve desired results. This is because we often start Botox treatment conservatively – as we can always “tweak” your results at the two-week appointment. After Dr. Roberts has treated you several times, he can often establish a unique treatment plan that is tailored specifically for your needs and desired results. When you come back 3-4 months after treatment for you next application, we can often begin with your complete treatment plan.
How Long Will Your Botox Results Last?
For most of our cosmetic dental patients, Botox results tend to last for anywhere from 2-4 months cosmetically. What most people don’t realize about Botox treatments, is that the full results typically take the full tw0-weeks to achieve. Some patients start to see results in little as 1-2 days.
After your full results are achieved, it’s easier to maintain them through follow-up applications 2-4 times a year. Some people find they need it less often as time goes by.
Benefits of Botox Treatments
Getting Botox is a safe, effective way to smooth the appearance of uneven skin, blemishes, and fine lines or wrinkles. Several of our patients opt to receive this treatment to enhance their smile after recent cosmetic treatments (such as veneers, teeth whitening, or orthodontic treatment).
Botox is also useful for concerns related to:
- “Gummy” smiles where the upper lip elevates itself extremely high
- TMJ disorders associated with muscle tension around the jaw
- Creating a more youthful overall appearance
- Pairing with dermal fillers to add fullness to aging or sagging skin
