Intense Pulsed Light, commonly known as an “IPL Photofacial”, is a light-based facial rejuvenation therapy offered at our Tsawwassen, BC clinic. It uses a variety of different wavelengths of light to improve the appearance of your skin. The best candidates for an IPL Photofacial treatment are those who are starting to see early signs of pigmentation, minor wrinkling or those who want to improve their skin tone. As treatments are both non-surgical and non-invasive, you can see results with no downtime.
Benefits of IPL:
An IPL Photofacial treatment can help improve many aspects of your skin’s appearance. At our South Delta clinic, IPL is used to:
- Erase skin discolouration, such as sun damage, brown spots and other pigmentation irregularities
- Remove unwanted hair
- Combat acne problems and reduce pore size
- Reduce rosacea, as well as broken and dilated blood vessels
- Help control flushing
- Stimulate collagen production, “plump” the skin and reduce wrinkles
IPL can be used with additional treatments, such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and other facial skin treatments that target the outermost layer of skin, the epidermis. Since IPL photofacials target deeper layers of the skin, they can be safely performed in conjunction with other, more superficial treatments. There is no downtime with an IPL Photofacial.
How IPL Works:
Your highly experienced technician at Roberts Dental & Facial Rejuvenation in Tsawwassen, BC will start by providing you with a pair of special protective eye glasses. A cool gel is then placed on all of the areas of your skin being treated. Your technician will then place the smooth glass surface of the handpiece on your skin to deliver pulses of light flash. You may experience very mild discomfort, like a very slight sting. Treatments generally take 30-90 minutes, depending on the the size of the treatment area. The treatment erases skin damage without disruption of the skin’s surface, hence, no “downtime”. It is recommended that patients start with a series of 3-5 treatments, usually one every three to six weeks to receive optimal results.
