Inlays – Onlays
An Effective Solution to Repair Tooth Enamel
All-ceramic inlays and onlays deliver optimal aesthetics and longevity. They closely mimic natural tooth enamel and are often mistaken for natural teeth. At our Tsawwassen dental office, Dr. Jan Roberts uses them to restore back teeth with cavities or old fillings and are a conservative alternative to full coverage crowns. They offer a well-fitting, strong and longer-lasting solution to tooth decay or similar structural damage than regular fillings. Whereas a regular dental filling is molded into place within the mouth during your dental visit, inlays and onlays are fabricated indirectly in a dental lab before we fit and bond them to your damaged tooth.
An “inlay” is the restoration used when the material is bonded within the center of your tooth. It is called an “onlay” when the extent of the damage includes one or more of the “cusps” or pointed parts of the tooth on the chewing surface.
Preserves Your Healthy Teeth
Inlays and onlays offer a conservative preparation that preserves as much healthy tooth as possible. They are a great choice if you have minimal to moderate tooth decay that extends into the flossing area and are an excellent alternative to full coverage crowns. They offer long-lasting esthetic and functional results as they are not likely to discolour over time and have greater durability than tooth-coloured resin fillings. We are proudly serving the Tsawwassen, Ladner, Delta, and Point Roberts communities.
